Learning to swim
I've been learning to swim. I got a coach and we meet regularly, twice or thrice a week. It has been a challenge; I'm not sure if it's the age or being in another medium that makes this harder than anything else.
I tell myself that it is the bunch of things you have to remember (kick, head not too low and not too high in the water, blow out through your nose but take in air through your mouth, don't drink water, arm movements and remember to come up for air, did I mention kicking?!) and do simultaneously that makes it very hard. But my coach keeps telling me it is like cycling: there is leg work, eyes on the road, hold the handle straight and all that. I think it is BS. I think it is the sense of no firm ground beneath your feet that makes it harder and the fundamental need to breathe.
I can write about how this relates to work and product management, but that is for another day. One day I shall swim!
