4 C of product management
A framework I came up with that has immensely helped me in product management is this 4C framework.
When I have to figure out a roadmap or when it comes to justifying a roadmap, I've used this framework.
Customer - What are customers saying about what problems they want solved? Is there a strong need to solve this problem? You can use forums, support tickets, and community posts to understand this need.
Company Vision - What is the company/product vision? Is your solution or the problem that you are trying to solve aligned with the company/product vision or goals for that year?
Competitors - Have they solved this problem/feature, and is that coming up in sales calls and demos? If they have solved it, then you need to solve it (give the first 2 Cs fit) as that is table stakes. If they don't solve it and the top 2 Cs are TRUE, then solving it can give your product a leg up in the market.
Curve - Staying ahead of the curve by reading where the market is going to be in the next 6 months, a year, or 3 years. Analyst reports are helpful.
