Fear of failure
I would say that fear of failure (and shame) is the single most important thing that stops a person from learning. That is something I learnt from my kids. The moment they realize that someone they trust (e.g., parents) might make fun of them for making a mistake, aka failing, is the time they stop learning.
As we grow up, we become more and more conscious of that, and we refrain from trying anything new and try to do what is 'normal' in that culture (or the friends group aka peer pressure). Be it learning a new sport, a language, a musical instrument, or putting our work out there (e.g., blog or paintings), because we are afraid it's not good enough or what if someone will make fun of us.
One thing that helps me break through that tension is to think that no one cares what we put out there, unless you are a celebrity, unfortunately.
So, go learn something new. Put your work out.
